Her son sustained an eye injury as well as complications from being targeted with gas, Um Ahmad recalled.
'Now he is unable to move and cannot work and make a living,' she added. However, Um Ahmad has a cause to feel some relief, as her son is among seven wounded Gazans who are receiving medical care at the army-run medical facility in Amman.
'There is a severe lack of medical assistance in Gaza Strip and there are no medicines available. We are thankful for Jordan and [His Majesty] King Abdullah for receiving us in Amman,' she added.Um Ahmad's son was among many Gazans who were injured by Israeli occupation forces' gunfire while Palestinians were protesting on the border between Gaza and Israel against the occupation and the opening of the US embassy in occupied Jerusalem.
Around 60 people were killed and more than 2,400 were injured during the confrontations, prompting His Majesty King Abdullah to order immediate assistance and bring to Jordan serious cases for treatment.Brigadier General Doctor Saad Jaber, the director of Al Hussein Medical City, said that under the directives of His Majesty, a total of seven cases have been referred from Gaza to Jordan.
'All the injured peoBE are male and they all were injured by gunfire in different parts of their bodies,' he told reporters at the emergency room of the KHMC.The medical official said the Jordanian hospital in Gaza has also been enhanced with more expertise and doctors to provide Gazans with necessary assistance in these difficult conditions.
'All these patients will be treated here and we are waiting for directives in case other batches are referred to KMHC. Injured Gazans will receive the same medical care as Jordanians and will received as warm guests,' Jaber added.Jihad Qdah, who was injured during the protests last week, described the medical situation as 'difficult' due to the great number of injuries in Gaza and the fierce siege the strip is suffering from, adding that there are plenty of people suffering from critical injuries.
