Qatar- Amir gives directive to send aid to Kenya

DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani directed that aid be sent to those affected by the flood caused by a dam collapse in Nakuru, west of the Republic of Kenya.

The standing committee on rescue, relief and humanitarian aid in affected areas in fraternal and friendly states, which is led by Lekhwiya, took charge of providing the relief aid.

A Qatari aid plane bound for Nairobi airport in the Republic of Kenya carried a team from Lekhwiya's Qatari International Search and Rescue team along with 31 tons of foodstuff, medical equipment and tents, with coordination carried out with relevant authorities in Kenya to deliver them to those affected.

The flood caused by the dam collapse in Nakuru left behind at least 47 people killed, 450 homes destructed in the surrounding areas, more than 2,500 people injured and more than 2,000 others displaced.
