Jordan participates in OIC foreign ministers meeting

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 5 (Petra) -- Jordan on Saturday participated in the 45th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in the People's Republic of Bangladesh under the theme "Islamic Values for Sustainable Peace, Solidarity and Development".

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Ambassador Zeid Al-Lozi, headed the Jordanian delegation to the meeting.

In a statement by Ministry, Al-Lozi called for exerting more efforts to revive the peace process to resolve the Palestinian issue and kick start real and time-framed negotiations that would lead to the realization of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on pre-June 1967 lines.

He stressed that Jerusalem remains a final status issue, which cannot be resolved without a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

He emphasized that Jordan will continue to address all attempts aimed at changing the legal and historical status of Jerusalem's holy places.

Al-Lozi reiterated the Jordanian position on the Syrian crisis, calling for a political and peaceful solution. He warned that the military option would exacerbate the situation and lead to more complexity and chaos.

He urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, intensify efforts and strengthen support mechanisms to help refugees and host communities. On the Rohingya crisis, Al-Lozi said the international community is required to pressure Myanmar to protect the Muslim Rohingya minority and grant them their full rights, including citizenship.
