Arab coalition intercepts missile targeting Saudi Arabia's Najran

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, April 27 (KUNA) -- Command of coalition forces supporting legitimacy in Yemen on Friday said they had intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen targeting the Saudi southern city of Najran, Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al-Malki said that they spotted at 09:46 GMT a missile launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen on the Kingdom.
The ballistic missile, launched deliberately by the Houthi militia, targeted densely populated civilian areas in Najran, but it was intercepted, Col. Al-Malki added.
Fragments of the destroyed missile fell over residential areas, and no casualties or damage were reported.
This hostile act by the putschists proves involvement of the Iranian regime's support to Houthi armed militia with qualitative capabilities, in flagrant defiance of UNSC resolutions 2216 and 2231, with the objective of threatening the Saudi Arabian, regional and international security, Col. Al-Malki said.
He noted that firing ballistic missiles at densely populated civilian areas is a blatant violation of the principles of the international humanitarian law. (end) nh.msa
