KUALA LUMPUR, 18th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Emirates Defence Companies Council, EDCC, today discussed prospects of joint cooperation and exchange of knowledge with the Korea Defence industry Association, KDIA, on the sidelines of its participation in the Defence Services Asia, DSA, exhibition 2018, which concludes tomorrow in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
A KDIA delegation, headed by Yung Ho Kim, Vice Chairman of the KDIA, visited the UAE pavilion at the exhibition and viewed the products and services of Emirati companies, which include military vehicles, machinery and equipment, as well as guided military systems, and equipment in areas of aviation, maritime, cybersecurity, maintenance, restoration, communications, logistic services and technological development.
The Korean delegation listened to a presentation conducted by Sultan Abdulla Al Samahi, Acting General Manager of the EDCC, about the developments in the UAE's defence and security industry sector, the capabilities of Emirati products and equipment, and the prospects of cooperation between the UAE and South Korea.
Al Samahi stressed that the EDCC aims to strengthen its relations and cooperation with its peers in other countries while praising S. Korea's relevant experience.
"A Memorandum of Understanding was previously signed with the KDIA to promote cooperation between our defence industries, and I believe that exchanging visits and organising regular meetings will benefit both sides," he added.
Al Samahi explained that the participation of Emirati defence and security companies in the exhibition will enable them to view the latest military and security systems and technologies while pointing out that the EDCC aims to provide an effective communication platform for national defence companies to build relations and strategic partnerships with relevant international institutions and organisations.
The EDCC also made several successful visits and held many key meetings, which reflected positively on itself and its members and increased its opportunities for cooperation with leading international military and security manufacturing companies, as well as for assessing the latest technologies and systems, he said in conclusion.
