Commander of Joint Forces receives Secretary General of United Nations

Riyadh, Sha'ban 01, 1439, April 17, 2018, SPA -- Prince Lieutenant General Fahd bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Commander of the Joint Forces, here on Tuesday received Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the United Nations was briefed on the Child Protection Unit at the coalition command in support of legitimacy in Yemen - one of the most important steps in place to protect children in armed conflict. Also, he was briefed on an exhibition of the gravity of the violations and crimes committed by the Iranian-supported Houthi militias against children and civilians inside Yemen, in a major violation of international humanitarian law.
The two officials discussed the file of attacks by Iranian militias for years. The meeting highlighted the principles and ethics of the coalition forces on the humanitarian side and coordination with international organizations, both on food and pharmaceuticals, and facilitating safe exit for civilians and diplomatic missions operating in Yemen, and coordinating all movements of humanitarian convoys of international organizations to ensure their safety during military operations in direct and continuous coordination with the legitimate Yemeni government.
The commander of the joint forces briefed the Secretary General of the United Nations on the commitment by the coalition forces to the rules of international humanitarian law, customary rules and the provisions of Geneva conventions protecting the safety and security of civilians.
The Secretary General of the United Nations expressed admiration for the procedures followed by the coalition, especially the Child Protection Unit, which is consistent with the United Nations Goals.
The meeting was attended by Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdallah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi.
