Kuwait- Jordan reiterates political solution to Syrian conflict

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, April 14 (KUNA) -- Jordan said Saturday the political solution is the sole way out of the Syrian crisis, rejecting violence as producing nothing but more violence and continued conflict.
Jordanian State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesman Mohammad Momani reaffirmed Jordan's firm stance that urges a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
"As this crisis enters its eighth year, a political solution is the only path to end it in a manner that guarantees Syria's stability, territorial unity and security," he said in a statement carried by Jordan's Petra news agency.
The political solution would absolutely maintain Syria's unity, security and stability, the Jordanian minister pointed out. US President Donald Trump announced late Friday "precision strikes" against chemical weapons targets in Syria in response to an alleged chemical attack there last week.
Addressing the nation, Trump said: "A short time ago, I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad." He also thanked France and the United Kingdom for the combined operation with the US armed forces.
US Secretary of Defense James Mattis also said France, the UK and the US took "decisive" action to strike three chemical weapons infrastructure locations in response to a recent chemical weapons attack by the regime of Bashar Al Assad. (end) ab.mt
