Sri Lanka to launch Light Rail Transit System plan
(MENAFN) Sri Lanka was revealed to be studying a project to create a Light Rail Transit System (LRT) in Colombo and complete it by 2025.
The establishment of the project was announced Monday by the Sri Lankan government information department.
It explained the objective behind the plan was to provide an efficient as well as an effective transportation system in the capital's Megapolis area.
Dimantha De Silva, senior lecturer at the University of Moratuwa and a Megapolis transport planner, pointed out that "we need to provide a sustainable solution for transport for the next 20 years, not for five years."
