Served with a live notice

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) The storming of more than 30,000 Palestinians of the border point between Gaza and Israel on Land Day showed the determination of the Palestinian people to never forget their homeland, even after decades have passed on their forced exodus or transfer from their country, Palestine.

No less than 16 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli gunfire and hundreds more were injured on Friday, when the Palestinian people decided to show to Israel, and the international community, that their thirst and longing for their homeland has not been extinguished with time, and that it never will.

The Israeli army used live ammunition to quell the Palestinian march towards the barbed wires that Israel had placed along its borders, thinking falsely, no doubt, that with time, the Palestinian people will forget their homeland and wither away. Not so. The Palestinian people, and their children and the children of their children, will remain loyal and linked to their country no matter how long the waiting will be, and will continue the struggle, by all means available, to restore their legitimate rights.

Israel and the international community have thus been served with a live notice that the Palestinian cause is not a lost cause, and that sooner or later, the Palestinian people in diaspora and in neighbouring countries will regain their inalienable rights to their country.

Israel must draw its own conclusions from the Land Day protest and come closer to reality by negotiating seriously with the Palestinians in order for them to enjoy a homeland of their own on Palestinian soil.
