Qatar- Wakrah tops in building permit issuance

DOHA: Al Wakrah Municipality has topped the country in terms of number of building permits issued in February. According to the monthly Statistics of Building Permits, 156 permits were issued in Wakrah municipality, accounting 24 percent share in total permits issued in the country.

The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics yesterday released the thirty eighth issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits issued by all municipalities.

Rayyan municipality stood second with 136 permits, having a share of 21 percent in the total permits, followed by Doha municipality with 110 permits with a share of 17 percent.

Building permits data is of significant importance as it is considered an indicator for the performance of the construction sector which in turn occupies a significant position in the national economy.

Al Da'ayen municipality witnessed issuance of 83 permits, Umm Slal 62 permits , Al Sheehaniya 40 permits , Al Khor 36 permits and Al Shamal 17 permits.

In terms of type of permits issued, data indicated that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 62 percent (398 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of February 2018, while the percentage of additions permits constituted 33 percent (213 permits), and finally fencing permits with 5 percent (29 permits).

Villas' top the list accounting for 53 percent (162 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 39 percent (119 permits) and other residential buildings by 5 percent (17 permits).

Commercial buildings topped in non-residential buildings permits with 57% share (52 permits), followed by industrial buildings with 21 percent (19 permits), then mosques with 12 percent (11 permits), then governmental buildings with 8 percent (7 permits).
