Syrian Arab army liberates Harasta

(MENAFN) The last group of terrorists and their families have left Syria's Harasta in Damascus' Eastren Ghouta countryside on Friday, the state TV said.

On Thursday, the evacuation of rebels and their families started and ended on Friday evening, with a total of 59 buses transporting 3,000 people, including 1,000 rebels.

Before they left Harasta towards rebel-held areas in the northwestern province of Idlib, anti-government militias in Harasta have handed over their heavy weapons to the Syrian Arab army.

The TV aired live footages of the entrance of Harasta with Syrian soldiers, celebrating and chanting for President Bashar al-Assad.

Eastern Ghouta, which is home to some 400,000 people, has witnessed deadly violence over the past few days, with foreign-sponsored terrorists launching mortar attacks on the Syrian capital in the face of an imminent humiliating defeat.
