Government committed for timely conduct of election: Ghani
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has stressed over the freedom of Independent Election Commission (IEC) and said no one would be allowed to interfere in election process and the government was committed to the timely conduct of future poll.
The President expressed the view during a meeting on Tuesday evening in which the upcoming election and preparations of election bodies was discussed, a statement from the Presidential Palace said on Wednesday.
Vice President Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah, officials of the election bodies, foreign diplomats and representatives of the UN also attended the meeting.
IEC Head Gulajan Abdul Badai Sayyad briefed the participants regarding the preparation of IEC and assured the meeting that election would be conducted on its time.
He said the IEC would announce the time table and its preparations for the conduct of Wolesi Jirga and District Council polls in the coming week.
The president stressed over the independence of the election commission and added not one would be allowed to middle in the affairs of election commission. He said the government was committed to conduct election in its due time and fully supported the election bodies working plan.
Foreign diplomats and UN representatives declared the support from election process.
The leadership of Interior, Finance Ministries and Central Statistic Organisation (CSO) provide their reporter regarding security situation and distribution of NICs for voters.
