Israeli fighter jets hit Hamas postin Gaza


(MENAFN) After an explosive device detonated near the fence between Israel and Gaza, Israeli fighter jets struck a Hamas post in the Strip overnight between Saturday and Sunday, Xinhua reported.

A military spokesperson said in a statement that the jets targeted a post in central Gaza belonging to Hamas, the Islamist Palestinian organization that runs Gaza.

The strike was a "response to the explosive devices that have been placed adjacent to the security fence," the statement read.

On Saturday, one of the devices exploded, causing no injuries. According to the military that holds Hamas "accountable for all occurrences in and from the Gaza Strip."

The spokesperson also warned that the army "will continue to operate by all means at its disposal in order to provide safety to Israeli civilians."
