Jordan- PM meets Senate, Lower House committees

Amman, March 15 (Petra)--Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki on Thursday met with Head of the Senate's Agriculture and Water Committee Marwan Al Hmoud as well as Head of the Lower House's Agriculture and Water Committee Khaled Al Hiyari.
During the meeting, heads of the two committees presented to the prime minister a memorandum that has been prepared in cooperation with representatives of the agricultural sector that includes alternatives to tax on agricultural products.
Al Mulki stressed that the government will examine these proposals that have been made by the Senate and Lower House's agricultural and water committees.
He also highlighted the importance attached by the government to the agricultural sector, stressing the need to address the challenges facing this sector in light of the border closure and the decline in agricultural exports.
Heads of the two committees thanked the government for its positive response to the proposals and alternatives that would ease the burden on farmers.
