Jordan to host Children Summit 2018


(MENAFN) This month, Jordan will be hosting the second Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit 2018 at the Dead Sea, with the participation of several Nobel laureates and 400 representative of academia, business, entertainment, government and civil society, ANSAmed reported what organizers said today.

The conference, an idea of Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, will explore ways in which children can be protected from human rights abuse, creating safe environment and social integration for refugees in host countries. Participants will work together to priorities the world's children in their spheres of influence, said organizers.

"Today, conflict, violence, climate change and poverty are forcing millions of children on the move," Prince Ali of Jordan, one of the key figures in the conference was quoted in a statement from the conference organizers.

"Millions are losing their homes and families, being trafficked and enslaved, missing out on formal education and being subjected to routine physical and emotional abuse. This summit is a sincere and concerted effort to bring people together to openly discuss these challenges and formulate long-term and realistic strategies to address them," he added.
