Erbil and Sulaymaniyah international airports opened for foreign flights

Baghdad, Jumada II 25, 1439, March 13, 2018, SPA -- The Iraqi government decided to reopen the airports of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq for foreign flights, in response to the territorial government request to restore the federal authority over the two airports.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi said that the decision was taken under his constitutional powers and in order to facilitate the travel of citizens from the airports of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, announcing the creation of a special protection authority at the airports of the Kurdistan region under the command and control of the Federal Ministry of Interior.
