Kenya receives 2,000 Ethiopian refugees following shootout
(MENAFN) The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) confirmed the arrival of around 2,000 Ethiopian refugees after a shootout at the common frontier.
Ethiopian forces have reportedly thought members of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) were close to the Kenyan border town of Moyale when they attacked them before realizing they were civilians, leading to nine deaths.
The KRCS announced four centers to have received the Ethiopian displaced asylum seekers.
The agency declared in its statement "the KRCS immediately released family kits (tarpaulins, kitchen sets, Mosquito nets, bar soaps, thermal blankets and jerrycans), which were distributed among the displaced families."
