Turkey creating its int'l ratings agency

Turkey is setting up its international ratings agency, Head of the Turkish Banking Regulation and Supervision Authority (BDDK) Mehmet Ali Akben said, Turkish media reported on March 12.

Akben said that no exact date is set for the creation of the agency, but it is expected that the agency will be created within this year.

He noted that the establishment of a ratings agency in Turkey is a necessity.

Akben further said that the Turkish ratings agency may be created by various Turkish financial companies, as well as the Association of Turkish Banks (TBB).
