(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Jazeera Arabic Television telecast yesterday the second part of the investigative documentary 'Qatar 96', revealing the roles played by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt in the failed coup attempt against the government in Doha in 1996.
Yesterday's episode revealed more details about the role of Bahrain's current King Hamad bin Isa, then crown prince , in financing sabotage operations inside Qatar in 1996. It also revealed how Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain provided all the plotters with high salaries and secured housing for them and their families, and how they issued passports for the participants to keep the failed coup process on track.
The documentary showed exclusive documents and testimonies by individuals involved in the failed coup, and an interview with a former US ambassador to Qatar.
