Jordan- Ministry of health bans Slime imports
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 11 (Petra)- Minister of Health, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sheyab, has decided to ban importing , producing, storing, distributing and selling "Slime gel" for its health risks to children.
The ministry said in a press release on Sunday the decision was aimed at protecting children from Slime's potential health risks, especially in light of medical warnings on its hazardous ingredients, such as boric acid, which children should shun touching or inhaling.
"Slime" consists mainly of polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl alcohol and exposure to these materials causes damage to the respiratory system and irritation of the mucous membranes in the body, alongside other harmful substances, the minister explained.
Fears of swallowing and skin absorption by children are present, he added.
The ministry today directed all its health directorates to take the necessary measures to withdraw "Slime" products from the market, in coordination and cooperation with the concerned authorities.
