(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, March 4 (Petra) -- A joint US-Israeli military exercise simulating a war on Israel started early Sunday, Israeli sources said More than 2,500 U.S. personnel and around 2,000 Israeli soldiers are taking part in the joint exercise that aims at improving interoperability and military cooperation between the two countries, according to "Israel Defense" military website .
The 12-day "Juniper Cobra" drill simulates a massive missile attack on Israel from both the Gaza Strip and the northern front with Hezbollah, it added.
The exercise is the ninth in a series of biennial "Juniper Cobra" exercises conducted in Israel between U.S. European Command missile defense (Eucom) and Israeli army.
