Egypt's Zohr field to produce 700MMCFPD

(MENAFN) Egypt's giant gas field Zohr in the Mediterranean is being studied to boost its gas production to 700 million cubic feet per day in May, petroleum minister Tarek El-Molla told Reuters on Sunday.

In 2015, Italy's Eni discovered Zohr that contains an estimated surplus of 30 trillion cubic feet of gas.

In December 2017, El-Molla said that pumping natural gas into Zohr to Port Said treatment plant had kicked off with a primary production capacity of 350 million cubic feet per day (mcfd).

Egypt pursues accelerating production from recently discovered fields, hoping to phase out gas import by 2019 and achieve self-sufficiency.
