Kuwait Junior Fencing Team wins Asian silver medal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DUBAI, March 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Junior Fencing Team won the silver medal in the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships 2018, which was held in Dubai, UAE.

Kuwait junior fencers succeeded in paving the way to the final game by defeating China 45-40 in the first round, and then Iraq 45-36 in the next.

The Kuwaitis continued their winning streak and defeated Japan 45-42 in the semi-final clash.

However, the team lost to South Korea 35-45 and won the silver medal.

Abdulkareem Al-Shamlan, technical manager, told KUNA his team proved to be stubborn and capable of confronting strong Asian teams.

He said Kuwait junior fencing team would be the future of fencing in Kuwait, and hoped the players would continue their hard work for upcoming competitions. (end) smr.bs
