Several Palestinians injured in clashes with Israel in W. Bank, Gaza

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, March 2 (KUNA) -- Dozens of Palestinian people were injured on Friday in clashes with the Israeli Occupation forces in several areas in the West Bank and on the border of the Gaza Strip, some medical sources and eyewitnesses said.

The clashes came following marches organized by Palestinians in some areas in the West Bank, in protest of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, they added.

There were confrontations between the Israeli forces and dozens of Palestinian youth at the Beit El checkpoint at the northern entrance to Ramallah.

Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that Palestine medical center in Ramallah received an injured man, adding that there was also a suffocation case.

Eyewitnesses said that a photographer was wounded by a grenade while he was achieving his mission in the town of Bil'in, which witnessed violet confrontations.

This came following a march called by the popular committee against separation wall and settlement on the 13th anniversary of the popular resistance in Bil'in, protesting against US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The demonstrators took to the streets and stressed the need of abiding by resistance against the Israeli occupation and sticking to the Palestinian principles, the committee said in a press statement.

It added that the Israeli forces arrested a foreigner who announced solidarity with the protesters, noting that a number of injuries were treated in the field.

Meanwhile, Murad Shetewi, the committee's coordinator in the town of Kafr Qaddum, north of the West Bank, said in a statement that the occupation forces attacked the protestors with rubber-coated metal bullets and gas bombs, which led to some suffocation cases.

In the Gaza Strip, some 16 Palestinian people were wounded by the Israeli forces on the border of the Strip, spokesman for Palestinian Health Ministry in the Strip Ahraf Al-Qudra said in a press statement on Friday.

Al-Qudra added that five medical teams evacuated the injured to several areas for treatment.

The Palestinian people have been protesting against the Trump's decision issued on December 6 regarding Jerusalem. (end) wab.nq.hm
