Egyptian Pres. Kicks off various developmental projects
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, March 1 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi launched on Thursday various mega projects in the field of housing and urban development in order to move towards achieving more of a comprehensive development strategy.
Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said, in a statement, that this came during the ceremony witnessed by President Al-Sisi to inaugurate the new city of Alameen.
Radi added the projects covered new cities of Alameen, Al-Mansoura, October Gardens, Al-Obour, West Qena, and the new cities of Rafah and Salam in Sinai.
The spokesman said that these cities were planned to be built with a coastal cities style, which provide a modern urban environment, sustainable economic growth and excellent infrastructure.
"Egypt is working through a management that aims at encouraging people to work and helping citizens to earn their day," President Al-Sisi said in a speech at the ceremony.
"The projects being implemented covers all Egyptian workers returning from Libya and other countries," President Al-Sisi added.
The Egyptian leader noted that the fourth generation cities are being implemented and aims at providing opportunities for a better life and that the planning phase came despite random growth to Egypt's population size.
The Egyptian leader said that Alameen city project will be funded by beneficiaries outside the state budget, while development of state facilities needs funding that is not available to the government yet.
For his part, Egyptian Prime Minister Sharif Ismail said on the occasion that major programs and projects being implemented in this framework aimed at increasing urban areas from six to 12 percent and the goal is to stimulate economic growth.
He added that 15 new fourth-generation cities are being implemented to with energy sustainability standards, waste recycling, and smart services for citizens. (end) aff.mb
