German insurgent among 3 detained in Helmand


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL/LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday said Afghan security forces arrested a German rebel in western Helmand province.

MoD spokesman, Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghan forces launched an operation in Mirmandab area of Greshk district of Helmand on Tuesday night.

He said that three insurgents including a German national were detained along with some weapons and ammunition in the operation.

Four vehicles, a depot of ammunitions, a depot of bombs and some other materials belonged to militants were also destroyed, he added.

According to another report, more than 3,000 kilograms of narcotics destroyed when an airstrike targeted a narcotics factory in Khanshin district of Helmand on Tuesday.

Maj. Abdul Qadir Bahadurzai, deputy commander for 215th Maiwand Military Corps, said that 13 Taliban militants were also killed in the air operation.

He said that a motorcycle and narcotics processing equipments related to insurgents were also destroyed in the offensives.

Governor€™s spokesman, Omar Zwak, confirmed airstrikes but did not comment about Taliban casualties and destruction of narcotics.

Taliban did not comment yet on the incidents.
