Works of two Omanis recognised at Sony World Photography Awards


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The judges of the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards have honoured the works of two Omani photographers by commending their photographs as being among the top 50 in the world in the awards' Open competition.

Organised by the World Photography Organisation, the Sony World Photography Awards is the world's most diverse photography competition. The 11th edition saw a record breaking 320,000 submissions by photographers from more than 200 countries and territories, presenting some of the world's finest contemporary photography captured over the past year. The international range of entries display a huge diversity of imagery in terms of genre, style and subject matter across the awards' four competitions: Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus.

In the Open competition, which rewards the best single image across ten categories, an Omani duo has been honoured.

Abdulla al Mushaifri is an Omani national now living in Qatar. He won appreciation for his entry in Landscape & Nature.

Hamed al Ghanboosi's work was awarded in the Street Photography category.
Mushaifri took his image 'Milky Way Flower' in Wadi Bani Khalid.

In the Street Photography category, Ghanboosi stood out with the image 'Playing Time', a joyful shot of young kids playing football at a playground in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.
