DOHA: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani speech at the Munich Security Conference was comprehensive and included all issues; and stressed that Qatar is stronger after the siege, said Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi, Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula. He added that Qatar has defeated the fabricated media campaign against the country.

'The speech highlighted the need to fight terrorism and to find its root cause, he added while talking on a Qatar TV talk show Al Haqiqah ('The Truth) recently.

Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi speaking to Qatar TV during the Al Haqiqah (The Truth) with Dr Rabia bin Sabah Al Kuwari on Wednesday.

The siege failed because their allegations against Qatar are not true, and they have failed to persuade any country in believing their allegations. Recently Qatar and Chad signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) for resuming diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The MoU was signed in Qatar and this shows that it was a mistake from their side. 'We are sure that other countries will soon resume their diplomatic relations with Qatar, Dr. Al-Shafi said.

Other countries who cut diplomatic ties with Qatar were exposed about their tactics of blackmail as published by French newspaper Le Monde, Dr. Al-Shafi pointed out.

The geographical area of Qatar is small, but the countries are not measured by their sizes but are measured by the overall development. There are many countries which are big in size but have no real role to play in the world, whereas there are small countries like Singapore. It is small in terms of area but is highly developed with one of the world's strongest economies.

About the conferences organised in some European countries to abuse Qatar and are sponsored by siege countries, Dr. Al-Shafi said that although the siege countries failed to persuade the world by their allegations and they still continue the same lies. All the conferences organised by them have held failed miserably.

'Instead of investing this money in their countries on their people, they are wasting it on some failed policies, and even these conference have tarnished their reputation, especially UAE, he clarified.

For his part, Dr Rabia bin Sabah Al Kuwari said that 'the abuse against Qatar began in channels like Al Arabiya and others. They are fabricating news against Qatar and they don't have any media ethics. Al Arabiya was launched after Al Jazeera to compete with it, but it has failed.

Qatar has succeeded despite the unethical and fabricated media campaigns, as there is no impact on its reputation.
