Turkish Pres. slams int'l silence towards Syrian attacks on E. Ghouta
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday lashed out at the international silence towards attacks carried out by the Syrian regime's forces on Eastern Ghouta near the capital of Damascus.
In a speech during the sixth conference of the ruling party, Erdogan asked: Did you see or hear that one country reacted strongly towards continued brutality in Eastern Ghouta?" He said that there are more than one million people who have fallen victims of state terrorism in Syria in front of the world.
Despite these atrocities, there are miserable people calling for sitting down with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to resolve the Syrian crisis, he added.
Erdogan expressed readiness to receive the injured of Eastern Ghouta to be treated at the Turkish hospitals.
The Syrian regime's forces have been launching air strikes on the city for seven days that killed at least 400 people and injured thousands others.
The city is one of the areas included in the de-escalation zone agreed by the three guarantor states of Russia, Turkey and Iran in the Astana talks last September. Eastern Ghouta is the last stronghold of the opposition. (end) rs.hm
