UAE, Bahrain intensify healthcare cooperation

DUBAI, 23rd February, 2018 (WAM) -- Dubai Health Authority (DHA) discussed ways to strengthen partnerships in the field of health with the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday during a meeting between the Chairman of the Board and Director General of the DHA, the President of the Supreme Council of Health in Bahrain and the Minister of Health in Bahrain.

Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the DHA, the President of the Supreme Council of Health in Bahrain and Tabib Al Shaikh Mohammad Abdullah Al Khalfan in the presence of the Minister of Health Of Bahrain Faeqa Bint Saeed Al Saleh emphasised the importance of cultivating the close relations between the countries to exchange experiences in the field of health.

During the meeting, the Emirati delegation shared the authority's futuristic vision in enhancing health services through utilising the latest technologies and systems in the medical field and through the expansion of its facilities and infrastructure.

They also shared their successful experiences in cultivating relations between the public and private sector to provide the public with quality service. They also shared their health insurance model.

The Bharani officials showcased their developmental projects in the health field, in line with their national plan 2016-2021, which aims to provide quality services to the its people through developing its facilities and services.

"The DHA is set for a transformational development drive, to ensure social welfare and happiness for all segments of society, in line with the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and the close monitoring of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the DHA," Al Qatami said.

The meetings were also attended by senior health executives from both countries and underlined the importance of investing in the privileged relations between the UAE and Bahrain, to further strengthen the co-operation between their health departments.

Al Qatami highlighted the DHA's readiness to share its expertise, knowledge and best practices with Bahrain's Supreme Health Council, while presenting its latest efforts to update its medical services to comply with international standards, including the adoption of state-of-the-art technology in expanding and upgrading their medical facilities.

A detailed presentation on the DHA's medical insurance system was conducted during the meetings, as well as on the mechanism of collaboration between the private and public sectors in Dubai.

Al Khalifa and Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh, Bahraini Minister of Health, praised the efforts to enhance the healthcare sector in the UAE, in general, and Dubai, in particular, while underlining Bahrain's desire to gain more knowledge of the emirate's health insurance system, in light of their current plans to revamp their own medical insurance system, to the benefit both Bahraini citizens and residents.
