Kuwait- Turkey kills 1,873 militants in Afrin Operation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- AT least 1,873 militants have been killed since the beginning of Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, northwestern Syria, the Turkish General Staff said on Friday.

Ground and air attacks have been continuing until the militants of the YPG/PKK and so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists are killed, it said in a press release.

The Turkish army launched Operation Olive Branch on January 201 to clear YPG/PKK-IS militants from Afrin.

It said its operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders. (end) ta.mt
