Thailand starts issuing smart visas: ambassador to Kuwait
Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait Doset Manaban disclosed that the government of his country since Feb 1, 2018 started issuing smart visas, reports Al-Rai daily. The Royal Thai envoy hopes the new system will encourage foreign skills and investments to engage in 10 industries focused on Thailand. He was upbeat about the prospect of Thailand in imparting knowledge and enhancing competitive capacity in the global economy.
He explained that smart visa is a new phenomenon specially designed to encourage highly skillful professionals to work in 10 industries. He shed light on the target industries to include the next generation cars, smart electronics, medical tourism, luxury, physical and mental health, and active agriculture and technology.
Others include future food, robots, aviation and services logistics, bio-fuel and biochemical, and digital industries and medical centers. He declared that four categories of applicants qualified for the smart visa include the gifted, investors, new companies and others (family visa in the case of a spouse or child).
