Dubai Executive Council, RTA review scope and volunteering activities
DUBAI, 16th February, 2018 (WAM) -- The General Secretariat of the Dubai Executive Council has visited the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to review the 'Day for Dubai' initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
The initiative aims to embed the spirit of volunteering in the UAE community using non-conventional methods through encouraging community members to donate part of their time to provide their skills and expertise for charity.
The 'Day for Dubai' initiative has broadened the scope of volunteering efforts, as it is no longer restricted to just financial donations.
Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at RTA's Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, said that during the meeting, the authority introduced a number of its projects, including a clothing recycling initiative called 'Kiswat Khair' which through the help of volunteers, will see the recycling of unwanted clothes used by parking attendants, bus and taxi drivers, and other uniforms.
Al Marri explained that volunteers will help sort out, repair and press clothes before they are distributed in collaboration with the Red Crescent societies, and other parties, to the needy.
