Spanish, Egyptian FMs discuss bilateral ties, fight against terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, Feb 14 (KUNA) -- Spain's Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis held talks with visiting Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry Wednesday over bilateral ties and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

In a joint press conference, Dastis described Egypt as a strategic partner in the war on terror.

He expressed hope that Shoukry's visit would give impetus to the fruitful partnership and joint action between the two friendly countries.

Dastis also shed lights on the developing economic relations between the two countries, noting that Spain is looking forward to taking economic cooperation with Egypt to new height.

For his part, Shoukry said that talks had focused on beefing up ties and expanding mutual cooperation in various domains.

He added that they had also mulled the terror threat and the efforts exerted to tackle it.

The two top diplomats touched upon the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern, particularly the Middle East peace process and situation in Syria, Yemen and Iraq. (end) hnd.ibi
