(MENAFNEditorial) Mr Shahzaib Trunkwala from Pakistan has been named the vice president of the International Socca Federation (ISF), a body for 5, 6, 7 and 8-a-side football format 13 Feb, 2018 - Mr Shahzaib Trunkwala from Pakistan has been named the vice president of the International Socca Federation (ISF), a body for 5, 6, 7 and 8-a-side football format.

His appointment to the esteemed post was announced at the inaugural ISF meeting held in Birmingham, England, recently, which was attended by 52 representative countries from across the world.

The attendees unanimously lauded the establishment of a global federation for 5, 6, 7 and 8 aside football format and thanked the Trunkwala family for the initiative and support.

They also commended Mr Shahzaib Trunkwala and Joint CEO Thanos Papadopoulus for their role in the federation.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Papadopoulus said ISF aims to bring talented, but underprivileged masses to the beautiful game. He also cited the example of Lyari in Pakistan which is now called "Little Brazil" for the football talent it has.

Trunkwala said: "I am honoured to be named vice-president of the ISF. Pakistan has a lot of talented football players and I will work to encourage and motivate young talents. I am optimistic that football will see good days in coming years in our country.

The federation also decided to hold the inaugural ISF World Cup at Lisbon, Portugal, in October 2018, and hold regional and international tournaments, including European Champions Cup, in 2019.

ISF members, which include the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, amongst others, now represent over one million socca players (small-sided football players) from across the globe.

The federation aims to represent the 2.1 billion players of small-sided football across the globe.
