(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Dubai court has cleared an Omani man of charges of kidnapping and sexual abuse of a Filipino tourist.
The Omani man allegedly forced the Filipina to get inside his car and drove to a sandy and unpopulated area in June 2017, reported.
The Filipino tourist, who was staying at her aunt's house in Al Rashidiya at the time, went outside to dispose of some garbage when the accused stopped her and forced her to get into his car.
The tourist claimed the man drove to an unpopulated area, where he groped her and forced her to perform oral sex on him. She also said the man attempted to rape her.
She reported the incident to the police, but the man denied the allegations.
On Tuesday the Dubai Court of First Instance cleared the man of kidnapping and sexual abuse charges, saying the evidence was not sufficient to support the tourist's claims.
The defendant's legal representative claimed the tourist had lied about the allegations and her statements were inconsistent.
