Senate president urges UAE investment in Jordan

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Dubai, Feb. 13 (Petra) –– Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez on Tuesday called on United Arab Emirates businessmen to raise their investment in Jordan "to the level of the close political and social relations between the two countries." Al-Fayez said in a meeting in Dubai with UAE businessmen that Jordan provides attractive and promising opportunities for business in various fields, mainly in the sectors of public transport, railway construction, renewable energy, medical tourism and technology.

He highlighted the key features of the Jordanian investment environment and economic legislation that protects investors and provides facilities for business, and also noted the Kingdom's security and stability.

The Senate president stressed the importance of settling Arab capital in the Arab countries as a step to promote economic integration among them.

He also reviewed the various challenges facing Jordan as a result of political conflicts in the region, noting that the Kingdom had weathered the political crises surrounding it, including the threat of terrorism and extremism.

However, he pointed out that Jordan is facing economic hardships as it took the brunt of regional conflicts, particularly the Syrian crisis, receiving 1.3 million Syrian refugees, a burden that cost it $10.3 billion dollars by the end of 2017.
