Afghanistan- Relatives protest after militiamen killed in Faryab

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Tens of relatives of four slain public uprising members on Sunday staged a protest rally in northwestern Faryab province demanding a governmentinvestigation into the deaths.

The four men loyal to commander Shahab were killed during a clash with gunmen belonging to another militia commander Abbas on Saturday in Sherin Tagab district.

Commander Shahab also sustained injuries in the incident. One gunman of commander Abbas was also killed.

The relatives of commander Shahab's dead security men once again staged a protest and claimed Abbas was being supplied arms by the newly appointed Governor Humayon Fawzi.

They claimed their four men were killed and their homes destroyed during the attack involving rockets and machineguns in Gerezwan Qashlaq village.

Abdul Majid, one of the protestors, said Abbas had recently been supplied arms by the new governor.

Governor Fawzi said the clash took place between commanders Abbas and Shahab and each accused the other of initiating the conflict.

The governor added a team had been tasked to investigate the incident.
