Fifth round of Kuwait motorcross competition ends


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- The fifth round of Kuwait Motorcross championship, organized by Kuwait Motor Sports Club, concluded Saturday at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad track, amid participation of a large number of Kuwaiti, Arab and foreign competitors.

In the open category, Kuwait's Abdullah Al-Shatti won the race, ahead of his fellow countryman Mohammad Jaafar, while third came another fellow Kuwaiti Meshari Abu Shaibah.

The beginners category, Kuwait's Omar Al-Medlej came first ahead of Bahrain's Meshaal Al-Enezi, while third came Khaled Al-Fayez from Kuwait.

For his part, Chairman of Kuwait Motor Sports Club Sheikh Ahmad Al-Daoud Al-Sabah lauded, in a press statement, today's competitions and described them as "distinctive, thrilling, powerful, and heated" with participation of top-notch racers from Kuwait, Gulf, and Europe.

The sport is currently flourishing in Kuwait with increasing number of its practitioners due to the availability of an intentional-standard race track, Al-Sabah said.

He also valued the Public Authority for Sport (PAS)'s backing of Kuwait Motor Sports Club's efforts to attract the youngsters into practicing their favorite hobby away from public roads.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad track has allowed Kuwaiti youngsters, who have great passion about riding motorbikes and racing, to use their hobby in a safe place under the guidance of specialists, the chairman added.

He also noted that his club has opened a juniors' school that teaches the fundamentals of safe driving, indicating that a number of the school's graduates have competed in several official championships. (end) fsa.ma
