Sangakkara says no connection to any political party
Sangakkara had tweeted urging Sri Lankans to vote at the Local Government Elections on the 10th of February .
"Remember at the Local Government Elections on the 10th of February no matter where you live in Sri Lanka bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote. Stop, Think, Vote," he tweeted.
Sangakkara later said that his tweet had been used by some elements to give the impression he supported a particular political party.
"Disappointing to learn that my comment on the LG elections is being used by unscrupulous elements to say that I support a certain political party. I have no affinity or connection to any party. My only hope is that all elected officials will always put Sri Lanka first and not their party, contributing positively towards a bright future for all our children," he said. (Colombo Gazette)
