(MENAFN) Leaders of Turkey, Iran and Russia will hold talks in Istanbul to discuss peace efforts for Syria, according to Turkish officials.
The officials said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin decided the summit arrangement during a telephone call on Thursday, but it's still unclear when the meeting will taw place.
Two leaders also agreed that efforts to create "observation posts" in Syria's Idlib province as part of a "de-escalation" agreement between Turkey, Russia and Iran should gain momentum, the officials said.
They discussed the humanitarian situation in Eastern Ghouta, just outside Damascus, where many have been killed in aerial strikes in the past few days.
