Russian President to run for 2018 presidential election

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin was confirmed to have registered in the Central Elections Commission (CEC) as a nominee for the 2018 presidential election.

Head of the commission Ella Pamfilova declared 314,837 signatures to have been gathered to backup the Russian President. The CEC has come across only 232 of the 60,000 signatures to have been invalid while inspecting.

The commission has up until now registered just a couple of candidates who didn't need to gather signatures since they correspond to parliamentary political parties.

The candidates were revealed to be the Russian Liberal Democratic Party's leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and from the Russian Communist Party Pavel Grudinin.
