Poland President to sign Holocaust legislation

(MENAFN) Poland President Andrzej Duda is to challenge opposition from the United States and Israel and pass a controversial Holocaust legislation.

The bill is to turn accusing Poland of complicity in the Nazi Holocaust into an act against the law.

Both the U.S. and Israel fear the bill to cause Holocaust survivors to be incriminated, even though Poland assured its purpose was to avoid being held liable for the massacre.

However, the president did admit that some Poles indeed participated in criminal acts against Jewish people in World War II, but cleared the Polish state from liability.
