Israeli army demolishes classrooms in East Jerusalem Bedouin community

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Feb. 4 (Petra) -- Israeli occupation forces Sunday demolished two classrooms in Abu Al-Nawwar Bedouin community in Ezzariya town, east of occupied Jerusalem, a local source said.

Representative of Abu Al-Nawwar community , Dawood Jahaleen, said in a statement that Israeli occupation police and members of the so-called "Civil Administration" stormed the community, cordoned off the area, and demolished the only two classrooms in the community for Grade 3 and Grade 4 in the school. This is the only school in the Bedouin community that was established and funded by the European Union to serve Palestinian students in the area", he explained.

"The school's license file was referred to Israeli Occupation High Court of Justice, and no demolishing order was issued yet, he added." "Israel aims at expelling and forcing us to leave our own land in order to expand its settlement blocks, he stressed, adding that we wont leave and we will remain steadfast in our land ".

Just few days ago, international rights organizations warned the Israeli occupation authorities of the repercussions of such demolitions, which violate the International Humanitarian Law and children's basic right to education, and directly undermine the international community's provision of aid to the occupied Palestinian population, to ensure safe places for children to learn.
