(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- At least two civilian fatalities and 16 injuries were reported in southern Turkey, on Friday from missile attacks originating from Afrin region, northwest Syria.
The "terrorist" Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) - a Syrian affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) fired six missiles into Reyhanli and Hatay provinces.
The attacks claimed two civilian lives and injured 16 others, including two critically, Turkey's Anadolu Agency reported.
Earlier today, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said five Turkish civilians have been killed in 82 cross-border rocket attacks by the PYD/PKK terrorist group since the beginning of the Turkish-led counter-terrorist operation in northwestern Syria.
The attacks targeted Reyhanli, Hatay and Kilis provinces after the Turkey forces launched Operation Olive Branch on January 20 to clear PYD/PKK and so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists from Afrin, he noted.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Turkish Army said 823 members of these terrorist organizations were arrested over the last 12 days. (end) rs.gb
