AL MUKALLA, 2nd February, 2018 (WAM) -- The Emirati Committee for Electricity in Yemen today visited the industrial city of Ash Shihr in Hadramaut Governorate, to evaluate project proposals, as part of the UAE's efforts to assess the demand for electricity under its assistance programme.

The committee heard proposals from Yemeni officials, including the construction of a solar power plant and alternative energy plans, to meet the local demand for power services throughout the year and implement the directives of His Highness sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to support the local electricity sector.

The committee stressed that it will study project proposals, as part of UAE's efforts to bridge the wide power generation gap.

Abdul Aziz Al Jaber, Head of the Emirates Red Crescent Team in Hadramaut, said that the committee's field visit is part of UAE's efforts to support the local electricity sector and ease the suffering of the Yemeni people, with a focus on improving the power supply in Hadramaut.
