Jordan- FM chairs Arab Peace Initiative Committee meeting


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Cairo, Feb. 1 (Petra)--Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi briefed members of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee on the outcome of the Arab ministerial delegation's efforts that started following meeting of a number of Arab ministers as well as the Arab League secretary general in Amman on January 6.

The committee was formed to work with the international community to address any negative consequences of US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

During the meeting, held at the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo on Thursday , Safadi reviewed the important role that had been played by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to address the consequences of the US decision.

The minister also briefed members of the committee on Arab diplomatic efforts aimed at affirming that the U.S. decision has "no legal effect and is null and void.

The Arab Peace Initiative Committee which is headed by Jordan, includes Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Yemen and the Arab League secretary general.
