Oman- Operations at new Muscat airport to start from March 20: Ministry
(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of transport and Communications (MoTC) announced on Wednesday that operations at the new passenger Terminal B of Muscat International Airport will begin onMarch 20.
Announcing the decision on its twitter account, MoTC said that operations of all incoming and outgoing flights will be transferred from the current airport to the new one onMarch 20.
H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi,
Minister of Transport and Communications, said that the new airport serves as a gateway to the world and a landmark of the modern state desired by
his majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
He said that the new airport will be an important asset of the national economy in light of the growth witnessed by the civil aviation and other sectors.
H E Dr Futaisi called upon all concerned parties to make the necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth transition of operations and passenger traffic.
He said that the ministry and its strategic partners are ready to operate the new passenger terminal building after receiving final confirmation of the readiness of all its systems through the operational tests conducted during the past few months.
H E Dr Futaisi added that nearly 6,200 citizens and expatriates took part in the trial run at the new airport which saw around 500 flights taking off and landing in the simulation exercise.
