AMMAN —AlGhad— An informed, official source confirmed to AlGhad today, Tuesday, that an Israeli delegation has arrived in Amman to negotiate the reopening of the Israeli embassy, following the recent Israeli memorandum of apology.
diplomatic sources, two weeks ago, confirmed to AlGhad that the resumption of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Amman would have to undergo a screening process.
Accordingly, Jordanian authorities have insisted that the former Israeli ambassador does not return, in light of the embassy incident.
Last year, an embassy security detail, registered as a diplomat, shot two Jordanians dead, one of them not 17 years old.
In the aftermath of the ‘incident', the Jordanian authorities insisted that Israel issues an official apology, ensures the prosecution of the murderer and assign a new ambassador.
Jordanian authorities also insisted that the Israelis look into the martyrdom of Jordanian judge Raed Zuaitar, a few years back.
Earlier in January 2018, the Israeli authorities sent an official apology memo, after offering remunerations to the families of the three victims, including the family of Judge Zuaitar.
The Israeli authorities gave five million dollars, in total, as compensation to the families of the victims.
