(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Three Daesh militants suffered casualties during a clash with Taliban rivals in Darzab district of northern Jawzjan province, officials said Sunday.
Governor€™s spokesman, Mohammad Reza Ghafori, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash broke out after a brother of the Taliban€™s shadow governor for Sar-i-Pul province was killed by Daesh fighters.
He said both the sides remained in positions for attacking each other, terrifying local residents of Sardara and Almulk villages of Darzab district.
There are rumors that Qari Hekmat, Daesh leader in the area, was also injured in last night€™s clash, but this could not be confirmed by detective organs, Ghafori added.
Residents of Jawzjan said the clash between the two rival groups was a good opportunity for security forces to launch operation against them.
Sohaila, a resident of Shiberghan, the provincial capital, said: €œWe always hear the government has launched operation against Daesh and Taliban, but the current conflict between the two groups is a good opportunity for Afghan forces to take action.€
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, was unaware about the conflict between Daesh and Taliban in Jawzjan.
Daesh and Taliban frequently engage in conflicts in Darzab and Qush Tepa districts of Jawzjan over the several months.
